I need some dawgone help!
ok here's the sitch
I used to have an intel chipset as my graphics card, and as some of yourselves my have experianced, it does not run half-life 2 after the half transition thingy with gman nor some custom tf2 maps. It used to go into a hard freeze with a blank screen. It would start up, but I could not play the game, and weirdly i could play it on gmod with the acception of a few missing textures.
NOW however, I have a shiny new 1gb graphics card (Asus running on NVidia) and with all it's shinyness, I can use Team Fortress 2 custom maps (and run it at map_picmap -10!) but HL2 will not start up at all! When launched, it will change the resolution for the game and will start to load up but will freeze with the start bar and a blank screen but I can still play it's maps on gmod. I've looked at steams support to auto config and reset the video settings but none of them work.
I will be posting this to valve as well but can anyone here lend a wrench?

Tried verifying the integrity of the game cache?
If you done that try re-installing it.
